This Saturday was the first wedding I’ve ever done in my hometown at the church I’ve grown up going to! It was great because I knew where everything was in town and could plan shooting locations ahead of time. It was also nice seeing half of the town at the wedding and catching up with old neighbors, teachers and kids I used to babysit! :-)

Amanda talked Father into letting the girls get ready in his apartment upstairs so that I could use the natural light that flooded in through the windows instead of fluorescent lights in the basement! I was beyond excited!!

When the flower girls arrived, Amanda introduced me by saying “girls, this is Laura, the photographer, so make sure to smile pretty for her!!” and without any hesitation, they struck a pose! Kellen, the ring bearer, is in the background having some lunch before getting ready.

Amanda wore her grandma’s necklace – I love special touches like this!!

I love Trevor’s smile – I think this was right as his mom saw Amanda coming down the stairs and said “oh….my…..gosh…..wow…. she’s gorgeous!!”

Trevor + Amanda – thanks SO much for having me as your wedding photographer! It’s always nice to see you two, and I was so honored to be part of your special day!!

I’m working through wedding photos from this weekend and I just can’t keep them to myself!! Here’s just a couple of Amanda + Trevor’s wedding (full post to come in the next couple of days):

 

 

 

With a 40% chance of rain, I was nervous that we wouldn’t get to do any outdoor photos for Shane and Lacey’s wedding. I’m sure lots of prayers were said to keep the rain away until after the wedding, and it worked!! It was a bit overcast, but we took care of all the outside photos before any sprinkles started to fall.

The entire day was simply beautiful – emphasis on both simple AND beautiful! Three bridesmaids, three groomsmen, small families and lots of smiles made my job super easy!!

For ring photos, I like to find something that fits the couple really well – for Shane and Lacey it was this wooden bench that made the perfect backdrop for the rings. I’ve spent two Spring Break mission trips with this couple, and I’ve seen how down-to-earth and selfless they truly are. 

Pink, green and silver made the perfect color combination for a wedding this time of year!

I love doing ‘first look’ photos – it’s my favorite part of the day! And knowing these two, I expected nothing less from Shane when he first saw Lacey all dressed up! :-)

Lacey joined the Catholic church on Easter, and so she was able to receive communion for their wedding!
